Art as a career was never considered to be a serious option when Terry Harrison was at school in Norfolk. Then in 1965, on moving to Farnborough, and with the encouragement of his new art teacher, Terry took O-Level Art at age 15 and then A-Level later that same year. He subsequently attended Farnham Art School at the age of 16.

His studies led to a career in graphics, and he worked for a while in London and then as an illustrator for Yellow Pages. He used evenings and weekends to perfect his painting techniques and to develop his own style.

Demand for his paintings became such that in 1984 he gave up his "day job" to paint full time. This was a decision he never regretted, and he has been kept constantly busy with a full schedule of exhibitions, private commissions, demonstrations and painting holidays in the south of France (well someone's got to do it!)

Inspired by Constable and Turner, Terry's favourite subject is the traditional landscape, using watercolour or acrylic as his main medium.

In 1989 Terry started his own fine art print publishing company with three partners and they now have over 150 images of his work (landscape, cricket and golf), which are sold in shops and galleries throughout the country.

In 1996 Terry was very proud to win the prestigious Fine Art Guild award for the 'Best Up and Coming Artist'.

Terry's latest project is the development of a range of brushes, videos, paints and other art materials to help make painting easy. His paintings continue to be much in demand, in both original and the printed form. His work is in public and private collections throughout the USA, Europe and Japan.

He is an energetic and prolific tutor and demonstrator and much of his spare time is spent travelling up and down the country demonstrating to societies and clubs. Regular re-bookings reflect and enthusiastic response to his educational and very entertaining style.

One of the greatest ambitions most artists aspire to, is to have their own gallery.
In May 2000 'The Terry Harrison Gallery' opened near Terry's home in Cove, Farnborough. In 2001 his book Brush with Watercolour was published by Search Press. It has proved a major success and has been reprinted three times. In 2004 his new book Brush with Acrylic was published and appears set to repeat the success, not just in the United Kingdom, but also in the United States, where Terry is acquiring a growing following. Terry has already exhibited in Denver, Phoenix and Las Vegas to great acclaim.
